Jan 12, 2009 · My steam boiler is an American Standard, approx 450,000 btu, circa 1970 model. Radiators are two pipes. The system is said to be a "vacuum-vapor" design and to have been state of the art circa 1920 when originally installed. Additional venting was added last year which makes the radiators heat faster but they also seem to cool faster.
